Does it pay to be vigilant about your dental health? At Jacas Family Dental, we think so. Our regular consultations and treatment plans are designed to help patients of all ages to avoid some painful and troublesome problems with their teeth over time, so that they can live better, healthier lives.

Most of us are used to looking out for advanced tooth decay. This is what we often think about when visiting the dentist or booking an appointment. But there are other issues that, if not treated, can lead to wider problems and quite a lot of additional intervention-type dental care later in life.

Gingivitis

The inflammation of the gums can be painful and problematic. It also sets the stage for more bacterial infection under the gum line, which can lead to other problems that we’ll discuss in a bit.

Our trained hygienists and professionals look for evidence of gingivitis of the gum line and advise patients on the appropriate treatment, as a way to make sure that the patient gets every chance to defend against the encroachment of this dangerous condition.

Periodontal Bone Loss

Over time, gingivitis and other factors can introduce more harmful bacteria under the gum line, which can lead to the decay of bone structure that supports the teeth.

This is really a hidden epidemic in America, and a problem that can and will lead to tooth loss. It's not immediately evident to most people whether they have bone loss or not. They can go about their days and weeks and months with this health problem existing and worsening over time.

One of the best reasons to pursue regular cleaning and exams is for the dentist to examine with x-rays whether any bone loss has occurred, or whether those factors are in place.

Chipping and Cracking

If we are hard on our teeth, areas may chip or crack over time. This can also leave the underlying substance under the enamel more susceptible to bacteria.

As a top family dentist in the local area, we understand the power of routine checkups to help avoid these problems and keep teeth in better shape. We welcome the entire family in to be treated in a warm and caring environment, with dental professionals who understand the challenges that their visitors are up against, and how to help them to practice better dental habits for life. Come on down to Jacas Family Dental and get your family’s dental needs met!
